I distinctly remember moving from middle school to high school. I had just spent 2 years getting to know who my teachers were, how they graded, really how they operated. I knew all my friends’ schedules. Everything was perfect.
But then I moved to high school.
It was bigger. There were more students, 4 grade levels instead of 2. More teachers. More rules. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one, but I felt like I really struggled my freshman year to figure things out.
That’s kind of how it feels like to be invested in a product when the team behind the product changes. Any transition is going to feel a bit awkward. But with both teams behind Restrict Content Pro, our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible.
In this post, I’d like to introduce some of the members of the team you are going to see a lot of (or have already interacted with) as they begin working on Restrict Content Pro.
Jared Hill is our lead developer on Restrict Content Pro. He has spent the last 10 years as a full-stack software engineer. He’s studied game design and development and enjoys woodworking.
I asked Jared what he’s looking most forward to with Restrict Content Pro and he had this to say, “The extensive capabilities of Restrict Content Pro are what excites me for the upcoming challenges. I can’t wait to see what we do with Restrict Content Pro in the future.”
Now Jared is also relatively new to the iThemes team. Since he’s new to our team, I just had to ask him what he really enjoys about the culture of iThemes and who we are as a company. Here’s what he had to say, “Everyone is excited about the products they are working on. The team is very helpful when a question arises and the environment is genuinely fun.”
Jared has spent several years in the WordPress space having created plugins and deployed WordPress sites for clients.
Welcome to the team, Jared.
Jenny Klein is our lead support technician on Restrict Content Pro. She has spent 15 years building websites for clients, having specialized the last 10 in WordPress. During her time building websites, she focused primarily on building newspaper sites.
In her previous position at a privately owned newspaper chain, she built and managed a membership site that allowed readers to watch the locally broadcast school sporting events in the region. There was even a pay-per-view section that allowed people to watch whatever live sport championships they covered.
I had the opportunity to ask Jenny what she looks most forward to with Restrict Content Pro and this is what she had to say, “I like the flexibility of the system and the WordPress-ness of it. I’m looking forward to better UI and UX that adds features to make it easier for non-coders to customize the look of the system to suit their needs.”
Having been with iThemes for just a couple of months, I asked Jenny what she thought of the iThemes culture and who we are as a company and here’s what she had to say. “I am so, so, so lucky to be working with the most kind, welcoming and down to earth and fun people. They really all want to make the best web product possible and provide the best service they can. And they actively structure things so there is truly the possibility of having a work-life balance. Amazing bunch of people.”
Make sure to say hi to Jenny the next time you open a support ticket.
AJ Morris (hey that’s me) is leading product and marketing for Restrict Content Pro and leading the overall product and marketing strategy for iThemes. He’s a long time RCP user having spent the last 10 years running his own freelance WordPress agency. The last 6 years he focused primarily on eCommerce sites, both memberships and moving retail businesses to the interweb.
He has worked for Liquid Web / iThemes since 2015 (just passed 5 years!) and moved from Liquid Web over to iThemes after the acquisition. AJ has extensive experience and knowledge in what it takes to build, launch and manage WordPress eCommerce websites, especially membership based.
You’ll likely see a lot of AJ as he is our primary writer and video producer for Restrict Content Pro, iThemes Training, and our community. And when WordCamps are a thing again, you’ll likely see him at some of those. (Ok, really, enough writing about myself.)
Hopefully, this has helped you to get to know the team here at iThemes. We have a ton of other people you may interact with from time to time. But I wanted to make sure you had a chance to get to know some that you’ll be seeing, hearing and working with as you continue to build amazing membership sites with Restrict Content Pro.
From all the team here at iThemes, we’re excited to work with you and get to see what you type of membership sites you build next!
